Recreus is a Spanish manufacturer best known in the 3D printing community for their FilaFlex TPU flexible filament line. Based in Elda, Spain, Recreus has built a strong reputation for specialty and engineering-grade filaments.
While their flexible filaments put them on the map, the products tracked here on SpoolHound include their PETG, PLA, PLA LW (lightweight foaming PLA), and PETG-CF composite filaments — all available through 3DJake in the UK, Germany, and France.
Their PLA LW is particularly noteworthy — it's a foaming PLA designed for RC aircraft and lightweight structural parts. When printed at higher temperatures, the filament expands and produces parts that are significantly lighter than standard PLA.
Recreus is well-regarded in the flexible filament space, with their FilaFlex line considered one of the better TPU options available. Their rigid filaments (PETG, PLA) are less well-known but benefit from the same manufacturing expertise. The PLA LW has a dedicated following in the RC and drone communities for its unique foaming properties.
Product Lines
Recreus PETG is the largest product line in their range. PETG offers a good balance of strength, flexibility, and ease of printing compared to ABS, without requiring an enclosure or heated chamber.
The color range covers core options suitable for both functional and visual prints. PETG is a solid choice for parts that need more durability and heat resistance than PLA can offer.
Recreus PLA covers the basics for everyday printing — prototypes, visual models, and general-purpose parts. Nothing flashy, but solid quality from a manufacturer with a strong engineering background.
PLA LW (Lightweight) is a foaming PLA that expands when printed at higher temperatures. The result is parts that are significantly lighter than standard PLA while maintaining reasonable structural integrity. Originally developed for RC aircraft builders, it's found a home with anyone who needs lightweight 3D printed parts.
The foaming behavior is temperature-dependent — print cooler for denser, stronger parts or hotter for maximum weight reduction. This gives you control over the density/strength tradeoff within a single material.
Recreus PETG-CF is a carbon fiber reinforced PETG composite. The carbon fiber additions improve stiffness, dimensional stability, and reduce warping compared to standard PETG. It produces parts with a matte, professional-looking surface finish.
As with all carbon fiber filaments, you will need a hardened steel nozzle — carbon fiber is abrasive and will wear through brass nozzles very quickly.
