Sovol SV06 Plus ACE at a glance

The Sovol SV06 Plus ACE is an open-frame printer with a 300 × 300 × 350 mm build volume and a hotend reaching 300°C. It handles PLA, PETG and TPU, and it needs a hardened nozzle before running carbon- or glass-fibre filament. Recommended materials: PLA, PLA+, PETG, TPU.

The SV06 Plus ACE is the SV06 ACE with a bigger bed and 100 mm more Z, and almost nothing else changed, including the filament envelope. Sovol lists PLA, PETG, TPU and PVA. The hotend is all-metal to 300 C with a high-flow nozzle borrowed from the SV07, the bed reaches 100 C, and the frame is an open i3 with diagonal bracing rods. Tom's Hardware recorded the same working range of PLA, PETG and TPU. The useful part is the 350 mm Z: tall vases, helmets in sections and long functional parts that will not fit a 250 mm machine, printed in materials that do not care about chamber temperature.

What the Sovol SV06 Plus ACE prints well

Recommended materials for this printer:

PLA PLA+ PETG TPU

No enclosure, so ABS, ASA, PC and nylon will warp and crack. Stick to PLA, PLA+, PETG and TPU for reliable prints. Carbon- and glass-fibre composites also need a hardened nozzle first.

Speed is deliberately lower than the smaller model, 500 mm/s and 15,000 mm/s² against 600 mm/s and 20,000 mm/s², because a 300 mm moving bed carries more mass. That is fine for the materials it targets. The high-flow nozzle matters more than the headline speed: on a 300 × 300 mm footprint you are laying down long perimeters, so wide extrusion at a 0.2 mm layer height finishes large PLA and PETG parts in reasonable time. Klipper's pressure advance and vibration compensation are both configured, and accelerometers in the toolhead and the bed mean ringing on tall prints is correctable in software rather than a mechanical problem.

Two caveats. Abrasives need a nozzle change: the stock part is brass, and Sovol's SKD11 hardened kit, about $29, covers the SV06 ACE and SV06 Plus ACE alike, so fit it before any CF or GF filament. And flexibles behave but need restraint, since the bed is the moving axis. Testing produced a good TPU vase at 70 mm/s that started to wobble near the top where the part lost rigidity, which is the classic tall-and-soft failure: slow down above 200 mm of height, raise the nozzle toward 230 C and add brim or a wider base. ABS and ASA stay off the list without an enclosure.

Filament notes for the Sovol SV06 Plus ACE

  • Official supported list is PLA, PETG, TPU and PVA, identical to the SV06 ACE despite the larger volume.
  • 350 mm of Z is the real gain, so plan tall PLA and PETG parts rather than new material categories.
  • No enclosure and no chamber heating means ABS and ASA will warp; do not plan around them.
  • The stock 0.4 mm nozzle is brass, so fit the SKD11 hardened kit before any carbon or glass filled filament.
  • TPU prints well at around 70 mm/s but wobbles above roughly 200 mm of height on a moving bed.
  • The high-flow nozzle plus a 0.2 mm layer is how you keep long perimeters on a 300 mm bed to sane print times.
  • Klipper vibration compensation is pre-configured, so fix ringing on tall prints in the profile, not the frame.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the SV06 ACE and the SV06 Plus ACE for filament?
Nothing on the materials list, only the size. Both run an all-metal 300 C hotend, a 100 C bed, a 1:7.5 planetary dual-gear direct drive and an open frame, and Sovol lists PLA, PETG, TPU and PVA for each. The Plus grows the volume from 220 × 220 × 250 mm to 300 × 300 × 350 mm and drops peak speed from 600 mm/s to 500 mm/s because the bigger bed is heavier. Buy the Plus for tall parts, not for a wider material range.
Can the SV06 Plus ACE handle ABS or nylon?
No, not reliably. The hotend reaches 300 C and the bed 100 C, which is hot enough to extrude ABS, but the printer is an open-frame bed slinger with no enclosure and no chamber heating. A 300 mm ABS part will lift at the corners and split between layers as it cools, and nylon needs both a warm chamber and genuinely dry filament. Sovol's own supported list stops at PLA, PETG, TPU and PVA, which is the honest answer.
Does carbon fibre filament need a different nozzle on the SV06 Plus ACE?
Yes. The stock part is a 0.4 mm brass high-flow nozzle, and brass wears out of spec within a spool or two of chopped fibre. Sovol's hardened SKD11 nozzle kit, roughly $29, lists the SV06 Plus ACE as compatible and comes as a pair with thermal grease, and the printer is also offered bundled with hardened nozzles. Once fitted, PLA-CF, PETG-CF, PA-CF and PET-CF are supported. Prefer 0.6 mm over 0.4 mm for fibre-filled grades.
How do I print tall TPU parts on the SV06 Plus ACE?
Slow down as height increases. The direct drive extruder feeds 95A TPU well, and a vase-mode print at 70 mm/s came out good in testing until the upper section started to wobble where the part was no longer rigid. Above roughly 200 mm, cut speed to 40 mm/s, reduce acceleration so the moving bed does not whip the part, raise the nozzle toward 230 C for layer bonding, and widen the base or add a brim. Dry the TPU first; wet flexible filament pops and strings.
