Filament Prices: July 2026 Report
What 3D printer filament actually costs right now, measured across 49 stores in five markets, in each market's own currency. Built from 27,375 live listings and 304,826 daily price observations. No Amazon data, no estimates: every number is an aggregate of real store prices that passed quarantine checks.
This is the baseline edition of a monthly series. The index started collecting on June 29, 2026, so month-over-month narratives begin with the August edition; everything below is the state of the market as of July 17, 2026, with movement since the base date where it already tells a story. The interactive version of every number here lives on the Filament Price Index, updated daily.
The index so far
One line per market, base 100 on June 29, 2026. Each market's basket is priced in its own currency, so the lines show pure price movement and are directly comparable. Hover a market to isolate it; day-by-day drill-downs live on the index page.
How to read it in money: 100 is what a fixed basket of filament cost in each market on June 29, in that market's currency. The same basket today costs €99.40 in all markets pooled, €102.00 in Europe, $97.60 in United States, £100.80 in United Kingdom, C$98.10 in Canada, A$97.00 in Australia. Below 100, filament got cheaper; above 100, pricier. The gap between the American and European lines is real divergence: US prices have drifted down since late June while Europe rose.
Prices by market
Median price per kilogram for a standard single spool (750 g to 1.25 kg), in each market's own currency. The widest gap is Nylon (PA): 64% between the cheapest and most expensive market, currency-adjusted.

Do special finishes cost extra?
Compared inside PLA, where nearly every specialty finish lives, so the answer is like-for-like; every market pooled in EUR. The July read: silk and matte sit at or near parity with standard PLA, and the real premiums are glow and metallic.

The purchase size that actually saves money
Pooling singles, bundles and minimum-order listings across every market (in EUR), and keeping to realistic order sizes of 10 kg or less, the best per-kg price lands at:
- PLA: about 8 kg per order (€9.29/kg)
- PETG: about 9 kg per order (€10.57/kg) (true bulk at 50-100 kg only shaves it to €7.85/kg)
- ABS: about 5 kg per order (€11.86/kg) (true bulk at 50-100 kg only shaves it to €10.99/kg)
- ASA: about 5 kg per order (€12.35/kg) (true bulk at 50-100 kg only shaves it to €11.77/kg)
- TPU: about 5 kg per order (€14.73/kg)
- Nylon (PA): about 3 kg per order (€45.99/kg)
- Polycarbonate: about 5 kg per order (€19.89/kg)
The full bulk curves, with every size from 1 kg to 100+ kg, are on the index page.
How much of the market is on sale?
Share of standard single spools currently priced at least 20% below their material's market median: Europe 19%, United States 12%, United Kingdom 16%, Canada 25%, Australia 23%. That is the honest way to ask "is now a good time to buy": it measures today's shelf against today's market, not against marketing anchors.
Beyond the core seven
Materials tracked outside the seven ranked families, every market pooled in EUR. Thin cells (under 5 listings) are excluded as noise rather than reported as findings.

Methodology
Prices come from 49 retailer and manufacturer stores across Europe, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, collected daily. Every listing passes automated sanity checks (weight, currency, price-per-kg bands) before it can enter an aggregate; suspicious listings are quarantined, which is why you will not find a $1/kg "deal" or a $500/kg outlier quoted here as a market fact.
Definitions
A standard spool is a single 750 g to 1.25 kg spool: no bundles, no minimum-order lots (those are segmented separately). Medians are per kilogram in the market's own currency. The index is a fixed-base-weight (Laspeyres) trimmed-mean index, base 100 on June 29, 2026. Read it like money: a market at 97 means the basket that cost 100 in that market's currency on June 29 costs 97 today. Grades (PLA+, high-speed, carbon-fibre) are classified against an owner-reviewed taxonomy, not keyword-blended.
Why Amazon is excluded
Amazon's Associates Operating Agreement does not permit tracking or republishing how prices on their platform change over time, so Amazon listings are excluded from the index and this report entirely, and no all-time-low claims are made about any product. Cells with fewer than five listings are omitted. Everything published is an aggregate; no single seller's price is presented as the market.
